Jamaal E. Smith, MPA

Policy Chair

Jamaal E. Smith, MPA is a public policy and health equity advocacy who has served in this capacity for nearly 15 years. Jamaal is currently the Community Advocacy Director for the American Heart Association, leading advocacy work to push public policy that addresses health equity.  A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jamaal obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Alabama State University and Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Phoenix.  Jamaal has worked on campaigns from the local level up to the federal government, including supporting equitable educational opportunities for Black and Hispanic students.  Prior to his work with the American Heart Association, Jamaal served as the Community Violence Prevention Manager for the City of Milwaukee Office of Violence Prevention, leading community education efforts to address various forms of violence as well as public policy campaigns to support investment in public health prevention strategies.
