Gabriela Armendariz-Hamilton, MPH

Gabriela Armendariz-Hamilton is a bilingual (Spanish-English) public health physician and PhD candidate with over a decade of experience at the intersection of food policy, nutrition, and community health. Before joining the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Food Policy Council as Program Coordinator in 2026, she led research and evaluation initiatives at Howard University, the University of South Carolina, and Mexico's National Institute of Public Health — including national nutrition equity programs and published studies on food policy and feeding practices across the U.S. and Latin America. Gabriela brings deep expertise in program coordination, community engagement, and equity-driven design to her work with CMFPC. She is passionate about translating research into real-world solutions and is committed to helping build a more equitable, sustainable, and healthy food system for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community.
