Voters Are Not Divided on SNAP

There’s a lot of noise right now in Washington about budget cuts. But when you actually ask voters, the answer is clear.
New polling from Data for Progress shows that in every congressional district across the country, voters oppose cuts to SNAP. That includes Democrats, Republicans, and Independents.
Even among people who support reducing federal spending overall, most still oppose cutting food assistance. Because for most voters, SNAP isn’t seen as waste or overspending. It’s seen as necessary.
Which raises the real question:
If voters are this clear, why is there so much energy in Congress to pursue cuts that directly harm stability, communities, and families?
At some point, we have to ask who these proposed cuts are really serving. Because it isn’t the people.
Food assistance is not a partisan issue at the community level. It is basic stability, especially in times like these.
